The year 2020 will be remembered as the year when the corona pandemic revolutionized the world. The social and economic crisis caused by the pandemic has increased children's inequality and the risk of exclusion also in Finland. More and more families are plunged into financial distress because of the corona and low-income families are even short of food. In addition, many families with children must cope without safety nets.

In Finland, more than 110,000 children live in poor families and these children do not have the same opportunities as others. Often low-income children are inadvertently left out of paid hobbies and are bullied more than others.

Save the Children Finland's work prevents exclusion and the growth of inequality. The donations of the 2020 Christmas fundraiser are used to pay for hobbies for children from low-income families and educational materials for youngsters in high schools or vocational schools. The funds will support families with children in a challenging life situation by, among other things, providing support staff, support families and sports sponsors. In addition, the funds generated by the collection will provide safe online chat support for children and young people, as well as distribute food gift cards to low-income families with children.

We greatly appreciate the very important work done by Save the Children.
